Year 3 Roman Day

Year Three pupils, along with their teachers and wonderful helpers, had a full day of Roman historical re-enactment in the Sports Hall! We were introduced to our activities by a Roman soldier, who did not stand for any interruption or those of a nervous disposition. His real name was Karl and he was quite nice really!
Amongst the activities the children completed were;
Wax tablet making (including a carved stylus)
Fresco painting
Mosaic making
Potions (For headaches and general pains!)
Writing on papyrus using real Roman ink
Charm making
Metal working
The afternoon saw a grand feast incorporating ‘wine’ , olives, bread, cheese and apples.
We witnessed some wonderful plays and dancing as well as a military demonstration by the year three ‘legion’.
We all had a very exciting and informative day.
