Year 1’s Coronation Day

On Wednesday 22nd Year One celebrated the life of Queen Elizabeth II and the children all enjoyed dressing up as royalty. In the morning the Mallett Room turned into a hands-on museum where the children were fascinated to see many interesting items connected to the day our Queen was crowned. They were particularly interested in the ‘tiny’ televisions that people watched the proceedings on in those days. Later the children had the opportunity to make their own artifacts which they could take home. The day ended with a magnificent procession and coronation. Our very own Littlegarth Queen presided over a charming street party and we were all entertained by groups of children doing a variety of movement and dance activities, such as marching, keep fit sequences and dances from the a number of countries in the Commonwealth. All this was enthusiastically supported by a wonderful group of Mums.
