Year 1 Coronation Day

Year One eagerly anticipated our school Coronation Day and were not disappointed. The children arrived in a flurry of excitement bedecked in their sparkling regalia of visiting royalty. The morning was spent looking at and making a wide variety of memorabilia significant to the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.

This year the children were fascinated by the technology of the time and couldn’t believe how tiny the televisions were or how strange the cameras were. In the afternoon our own Year One Queen was crowned and during the street party her entourage were entertained by performances from both the UK and the countries of the Commonwealth.

The day was ably supported by a number of wonderfully talented Mums who cooked, served, manned the learning stations and taught dancers and performers their routines with great aplomb.

We all sang God Save the Queen as our Littlegarth Queen hastily spooned her jelly into her mouth. As ‘one’ does.
