World Book Day Celebrations

On Thursday 2nd March the whole school dressed up as a favourite character from a famous novel to celebrate World Book Day. From Harry Potter to a tiger from The Tiger who came to tea; from a boy in a dress to umpa lumpas to the three bears, pupils and staff alike enjoyed transforming themselves into character for the day.

The assembly was filled with dramatic re-enactments from 5C and Reception performed beautifully “We are going on a bear hunt.” Volunteers from each class were asked to share their favourite books and explain why it was their favourite and the staff also shared their favourite stories with the children.

All children were invited to design a new front cover for their favourite book as part of a House competition and the winners are:

Year 1 Winner – James Forsyth 5 merits for Munnings

Year 2 Winner – Harry Tier  5 merits for Gainsborough

Year 3 Winner – Poppy Down 5 merits for Constable

Year 4 Winner – Saanvi Kumar 5 merits for Gainsborough

Year 5 Winner – Thomas Bentley 5 merits for Munnings

Year 6 Winner – Harry Oliver 5 merits for Constable
