Stream Studies Trip

Riffles, pools, erosion and deposition were on the agenda as the Year 5 children went on a Geography field trip to Highwoods Country Park on Monday 6th March. Both classes spent a half day session further developing their understanding of Rivers through stream studies field work run by the park rangers.

The children arrived at school excited by the opportunity of learning in the outdoor classroom and gaining a hands-on experience of key features of rivers.

We were extremely lucky with the weather following the recent heavy rain and the children worked through a range of activities which brought to life the information covered on Rivers in the Autumn Term. The children were extremely focused for the two hour sessions and all agreed that it was a great experience and they enjoyed getting wet and messy learning about river features.
