Boys’ Games

Although the current COVID restrictions have affected our ability to play competitive “live” sport matches against other schools, the PE department have found exciting ways to keep the competitive spirit alive.  We have already entered a National PE challenge league and this week, the children took part in an internal match afternoon.

UNDER 9 Football:  On Monday afternoon the U9 boys were divided up into 3 teams to compete for the first Littlegarth Under 9 league Cup.   The orange team finished top after an exciting and highly competitive afternoon of sport.  All involved should be congratulated and we look forward to the next competition in a few weeks.

UNDER 10/11 Rugby: On Wednesday it was the turn of the Under 10’s and Under 11’s who played Rugby matches within their own year groups. Like the Under 9’s before them, it was a highly competitive and exciting afternoon for all involved.  At the end of the afternoon, the Pink team were triumphant in the Under 10 competition and for the Under 11’s it was the Blue team.

On both days every player was then invited to match tea where they could experience a post-match analysis.  Well done boys!

Girls’ Games

This week, the children have experienced and enjoyed some fantastic competitive play within their Games lesson.  On Monday we created a Netball fixture for the U9 girls who were divided up into 3 teams with each team playing 2 games throughout the afternoon.

The scores were:

Blue v Green (4-3)

Red v Green (7-4)

Red v Blue (5-4)

And the final placings were:

1st = Red

2nd = Blue

3rd = Green

Well done girls, you really impressed us with some fantastic and energetic play!

On Wednesday it was the turn of the U10/11’s who played Hockey matches within their own year groups.

It really was wonderful to see the girls put all their skills into practice and play some seriously competitive hockey.

The U10’s played 2 shortened games while the U11’s played 1 extended game and the results were as follows:

U10

1st = Blue Team (scored 7 goals in total)

2nd = Red Team (scored 2 goals in total)

3rd = Gold Team(scored 1 goal in total)

U11

Yellow team 5 V Red team 2

After the matches, every player was then invited to match tea where they could experience a post-match analysis.  Well done girls, we can’t wait for the next fixture!
