A Personal Experience of Life in Ancient Greece

In the morning, the scene was set in a market place in Athens.  The year was 490BC, and near Athens, the Battle of Marathon raged on.  The Year 4 children were Athenian citizens at the time of the battle.  They had to await news of the outcome of the battle.  Master Thadius was a strict and scary leader.  The Athenian citizens did as he asked.  The children enjoyed working on a variety of activities at the Greek Market Place.

In the afternoon, the children were divided into groups (soldiers, actors, dancers).  They enjoyed watching each others performances at the Greek Theatre and in between each performance they enjoyed a feast of pitta bread, olives and feta cheese served by servants!

This was a wonderful day to help the children imagine the life of the Ancient Greeks!
