Match Reports – W/C 7th October

On Thursday, the U9 football team travelled to Alleyn Court School for the annual U9 Regional ISA Football Tournament. The boys appeared excited but nervous on their journey to ‘Sunny Southend’ knowing that Littlegarth had won the event last year. The teams were organised into two groups, playing 6 games in total with the winners of each group progressing into the final.

The first match kicked off against St John’s and with only 8 minutes to play, we knew we must get an early goal to settle the nerves. That we did, and won the game 2-0. The following results proved that the boys played exceptionally well, revealing signs of determination and perseverance.

Vs Woodland (4-0 ) win
Vs Thorpe Hall (2-0) win
Vs Ursuline (1-1) draw
Vs St Margaret’s (2-0) win
Vs Gosfield (4-0) win

These results meant that we finished top of our group and proceeded into the final against Finborough. Having already played them this term, we knew they were a skilful and a hard working team.

The final kicked off, with both teams executing their game plan making it difficult to make a break through. The game progressed to extra time and with a golden goal from a corner, Littlegarth were champions!!!

A fantastic day had by all. Congratulations to the U9 Football team on a well-deserved victory.

Under 9 Football v Finborough

The Under 9 Football teams welcomed Finborough School this week, for an afternoon of sport.  As always both teams worked hard and performed extremely well in two very competitive and closely fought matches.

Under 9 B  3-6 (Loss)

Under 11 and Under 10 Rugby V Finborough

After a successful start to the season at home, our senior boys’ Rugby teams hit the road this week with their first away fixture of the season at Finborough.  It was a tough afternoon with some excellent rugby on show for both schools.

Team Score
Under 10 A 11-8  (Win)
Under 11 A 1-7   (Loss)
Under 11 B 10-0 (Win)

Another exciting week of sports fixtures took place for the Littlegarth girls this week with our U9 and our U11 teams facing Finborough School in both Netball and Hockey.

On Monday our U9 A, B and C teams played at home, putting on a fantastic display of the skills, tactics and set plays that they have been learning in lessons.  The A team kept us all on our toes and holding our breath (with our fingers crossed) but we needn’t have worried as they finished their game with a win – just like the other two teams.  A great afternoon of sport!

U9 A V Finborough A: 9-7 (win)

U9 B V Finborough B: 9-2 (win)

U9 C V Finborough C: 12-0 (win)

On Wednesday, we travelled to Suffolk to meet Finborough again but this time with our U11 Hockey Teams.

The games were predicted to be challenging and they didn’t disappoint.  The girls played their red and blue socks off and fought hard to gain and maintain possession … as well as having many shots on goal.  All the girls finished out of breath and with rosy cheeks having given it everything they had and as PE staff, we cannot ask for more than that.  Again another fantastic afternoon of sport, well done girls!

U11 A v’s Finborough A: 2-1 (win)

U11 B v’s Finborough B: 2-3 (loss)

U11 C v’s Finborough C: 0-2 (loss)

U11 C v’s Finborough D: 1-0 (win)
