Girls’ Match Reports – Week Beginning 18th March

This was the final week of fixtures for both our U9 and U11 girls’ teams and what a fantastic season both age groups have had.

Wednesday 20th March

Our U11A, B, C and D Netball teams travelled to Chelmsford to play against St Cedd’s.  This was the first time that we had played a fixture against them.  Unfortunately, due to illness, St Cedd’s could only offer us two teams to play against that afternoon, their A and B teams.  The Littlegarth teams, eager to play their final Netball fixture rose to the challenge and as usual played some fantastic Netball.

Littlegarth A V St Cedd’s A: 17 – 3 (Win)

Littlegarth B V St Cedd’s A: 14 – 4 (Win)

Littlegarth C V St Cedd’s B: 10 – 0 (Win)

Littlegarth D V St Cedd’s B: 2 – 0 (Win)

We would like to congratulate all our Year 5 and 6 girls on such a fantastic and successful season of Netball.

Thursday 21st March

Our U9A and B Hockey team finished off their season in a re-match versus Holmwood House.  This has been a challenging season for our U9 team as each fixture has seen the girls adapt to new team members with the help from our very eager Year 3 girls.  We have been thrilled with all the girls’ performances and they have shown so much progression throughout the term adapting to both grass and astro play.  Well done!

Littlegarth A V Holmwood House A: 0 – 5 (Loss)

Littlegarth B V Holmwood House B: 1 – 4 (Loss)

Thursday 21st March

Our U11A Netball team travelled to Epsom College to compete in the U11 IAPS National Netball Finals.  The team knew that they would be facing their most challenging opposition to date, but this did not seem to affect their continued determination and motivation to perform their very best.  Over the past weeks they have given up many break times and attended early morning Netball sessions to train and this certainly contributed to their fantastic performances on the day.  Each and every one of them were pushed to their limits and they did not disappoint.  Although the girls did not qualify for either the Cup or Plate competition in the afternoon, they achieved 6th place in their pool.  This is a magnificent achievement when you consider that there were 26 qualifying rounds across the country with 229 teams entering the IAPS Regional tournament.  33 teams qualified for the Nationals and Littlegarth were one of those teams.  We were thrilled to win one game and draw two against some very tough opposition.  We would like to congratulate each member of the U11A Netball team for their continued hardworking ethic and commitment to Netball.  We are very proud of you and wish you much luck at the U11 ISA National Netball Finals in York on Saturday 11th May.

Littlegarth 5 – Walthamstow Hall 5

Littlegarth 6 – King’s St Albans 10

Littlegarth 3 – Bute House 8

Littlegarth 4 – Hoe Bridge 10

Littlegarth 8 – Newland House 8

Littlegarth 3 – Bablake 5

Littlegarth 10 – Perse 5

Inter-House Cross Country

On Friday 22nd March our Prep children were raring to go for our annual Inter-House Cross Country competition. Determination, dedication, achievement and a real sense of community spirit were on display with almost 160 pupils from the Prep School competing for their House.  The competition is scored in such a way that every pupil’s run counts towards the final result regardless of finishing position. The House placings were

1st place               Munnings

2nd place              Gainsborough

3rd place               Constable.

We would like to congratulate every child that took part over the challenging course and thank them all for their commitment to their Cross-Country lessons over the last term and a half.  Well done!

BOYS Match Reports Week beginning 18/03/19

After successful Under 9 Rugby and Under 11 Football seasons, this week all our teams played their final competitive matches before the Easter break.

Under 11 Football v St Cedd’s:

This was the first time the school has faced St Cedd’s in a school match outside of tournament events.  All the boys were in action and I am pleased to report that all the Littlegarth teams finished the football season with victories (five wins from five).   I would like to congratulate all the boys for their efforts this term and thank Sammy Fountain for being such an effective sports captain, leading by example both on and off the pitch.  Next week the boys will compete in our annual inter-house football competition which is a fun way to end a great season.  Who will win?

Under 9 Rugby v Holmwood House:

We started the Rugby season with a trip to Holmwood House and their return visit to us this Thursday seemed a fitting way to end a successful term.  All three teams were in action and played some exciting rugby.  Based on the way the teams have developed this year, I look forward to seeing the boys back in Rugby action during the next academic year.

Under 9 A: Win 35-30

Under 9 B: Win 35-20

Under 9 C: v Holmwood House B  Loss  25-20
