ISA National Football Finals

On Friday the 24th of March, the Under 11 football team travelled to Dixie Grammar in Warwickshire for the ISA National finals.  To qualify for the finals, the team had to play its way through the regional competition to face the best ISA school teams in the country.

The boys started the day with a draw and victory against Hale Prep from Manchester and Westward Prep from       London.  The standard of play was extremely high which called upon the boys to put all their hard work on the training pitch into practice.   Resolute goalkeeping from Tom Morovic kept the boys in the competition, as the team eventually played their way into the final of the bowl competition.  Playing seven further teams to reach the final, the team scored a total of 18 goals and conceded only 6.   In the final, the team faced Gatehouse Prep, another London school based in Tower Hamlets.  The final was a very physical game full of end to end action.  Both teams played contrasting styles of football which added to the excitement.  As always, Littlegarth tried to play the ball from the back, passing and moving the ball quickly.  In contrast, Gatehouse looked for the long ball option to catch the Littlegarth defence out.  The game ended 3-1 to Gatehouse and although disappointed not to win, the team once again did the school very proud.  Another final at another National competition is again a great achievement for all involved.  Robert Ryan commented; “Being in year 6, this was my last set of games for the school.  Having worked hard to get here we were disappointed not to win but we gave it our best shot”.  During the three and a half hour drive home Mr F was already making plans for next year in an attempt to once again qualify to play the best ISA teams in the country.

A special mention should also go out to our fantastic parents. Traveling down to the event and supporting the team, they acted like an extra man on the pitch!
