ISA National Cross Country

What an amazing day for Littlegarth at the ISA National Cross Country Championships – even the sun shone for us! After a disappointing 2 years of cancelled events it was really exciting for our qualifiers to finally get to Rugby and compete in this competition. Every race was made up of the 10 finalists from the regional competitions which meant the runners were in a field of 70 other runners all battling it out over the various distances.

Charlie (Y4), Henry (Y6), Fin (Y6) and Lyla (Y6) all qualified to run not only for Littlegarth, but also for East Anglia and despite tough competition from around the country, they all crossed the finish line in the top half which was an incredible achievement.

Special mention does have to go to Lyla who fought her pre-race anxieties to secure a place on top of the podium, winning the Year5/6 Girls race with a significant lead. I’m not sure there was a dry eye in the Litttlegarth camp when she crossed the line to rightfully claim her gold medal; something that has never been achieved by a Littlegarth pupil before.

Well done to all the runners and thank you to the families (who seemed to gain inspiration from the pro athletes on site) for the support, it really was an incredible day.
