IAPS comes to Littlegarth!

On Wednesday 8th November, Littlegarth hosted the very first under 11 IAPS rugby festival.  This was a great honour for the school and a fantastic opportunity for our boys to play against some of the strongest rugby schools in the East.

Twelve teams took part traveling from different parts of the country.  St Mary’s Hall got the prize for the longest trip traveling down from Lancashire! The festival took the form of a five match group stage and then a sixth tiered match, with first playing first, second playing second and so on from the group.

Our boys took on Felsted Prep, Barnadiston Hall, Framlingham College Prep, Brentwood Prep and South Lee in the group stage.  They played some of their best rugby to date to finish top of the group.  This took them into a final sixth game against St Faith’s School from Cambridge.  Meeting them earlier on in the season at the New Hall festival, we knew it was going to be tough, physical game.

The boys ran and tackled hard but the speed with which the Cambridge side moved the ball was too much to handle and St Faiths managed to come out winners.

Although disappointed the boys should be very proud of their achievement.  The format adopted follows RFU guidelines and does not allow for an overall winner. However, based on the tiered match the boys finished second from twelve schools, which is fantastic achievement.  Combine this with their success at the ISA festival last week when they became National plate winners and it’s not been a bad couple of weeks for the team!
