Chinese New Year

The Nursery along with Reception celebrated Chinese New Year last Friday – The Year of the Rat.

Our morning began with a special visitor, Wai-Fung who is one of our governors and who explained how she and her family celebrate New Year and the importance of the many rituals and symbols. The children were each given a special Red envelope containing a chocolate and lucky coins as a symbol of good luck.

We had a really busy and fun filled morning creating lanterns, role playing restaurants with pretend Chinese food, painting dragons and rats. The children tasted a variety of noodles and stir fry dishes with many children using chopsticks successfully!

We had a fabulous time and it was a delight to see the children interacting together and appreciating a different culture.
