Annual Cricket Festival at Tonbridge School

Since 2010, when their Cricket Academy was established, Tonbridge School have hosted an annual 6-a-side under 11 Prep Schools Cricket Festival.  This year Littlegarth were invited for the first time to take part in this prestigious event.  Joining 18 other leading Prep Schools from across the country, this was set to be a very competitive day of Cricket.

Playing in the shadow of the Chapel in the centre of the school, the Littlegarth team faced Great Walsted, Cranmore and St Michaels in their opening matches.  There was a high standard of play on show but impressive batting from Drew and Erith, precise bowling from Bond-Roberts and tight fielding skills from Howard, Belshaw and Windridge saw the boys play themselves into the next round.

Thomas Prep and Hilden Grange were the two teams that stood in the way of a spot in the final.  Narrowly losing to Thomas Prep by 5 runs, the Littlegarth team had to beat Hilden Grange to stand any chance of making the final.  The match against Hilden Grange was by far the team’s best performance of the year.  Bowling all but one of the Hilden Grange team out for 33 off five overs, the boys had to make their total within 15 balls.  The batting performance was inspired.  Erith and Bond-Roberts knocking the ball around the pitch and made the total on the 16th ball!  This meant the team missed out on the final by just one ball, with a batting average of 10.8 per over.  This gave the team a third place finish which was very impressive in this our first outing at this prestigious festival of Cricket.
