An Afternoon of Rugby and Hockey!

Under 9 Rugby Festival

On Thursday 9th March, Holmwood House, St Margerets and Orwell Park joined us for an afternoon of rugby.   It is easy to forget that the boys are just 8 and 9 years old when you consider the standard of play and the crunching tackles being made!  The Littlegarth team have been on a real journey this year as for most rugby was a new sport to them six weeks ago.  Collectively they have made more progress than any other team in the school.   Although the boys did not win the overall event, their standard of play and work ethic was fantastic and bodes well for future success.

Under 9 Hockey Festival

The annual Littlegarth U9 Hockey Festival was a huge success with over 9 teams competing in two different pools (A and B pool).  The sun was shining and all the children had a fun filled afternoon of hockey.  It was such a pleasure to watch so many girls competing at such a high level for their age.  The A team matches were 7 minutes each way and the competition was tough.  The B team matches were 10 minutes one way and they played each other twice which meant they played 6 matches all together!

Our U9C team coped very well in the tournament considering they had no goal keeper and had to play against B teams!  They finished joint 3rd in their pool alongside St Margaret’s.  Well done to the Littlegarth C team!  Finborough gained 18 points and were placed 2nd in the B pool with Littlegarth achieving 26 points, placing them 1st with 4 wins and 2 draw results.  Well done to the Littlegarth B team!

Our U9A team were very strong from the start of the tournament scoring a total of 11 goals. They won all of their matches and were placed 1st with a staggering 20 points.  In second place were Holmwood House with 14 points, 3rd were St Margaret’s with 12 points, 4th were The Abbey with 8 points and in 5th place were Finborough with 6 points.  Well done to the Littlegarth A team and a massive well done to all the children from all the schools that took part.
